The Square Tower, Old Portsmouth, is the venue for  'Crafts in the Tower' which takes place on the fourth Sunday of the month.  This wonderful building was built in 1494 during the reign of Henry VII as part of the naval fortifications to protect the rapidly expanding naval port and as the home of the Governor of Portsmouth.  It has since had a varied history and has been used as a semaphore signalling tower, a provisions store for the Royal Navy and a gun powder store.  The Tower was restored to its present condition between 1979 and 1986.
